Jorah Mormont is the worst. There! I’ve said it! He’s a traitor and a hypocrite, a slaver and a sellsword, a violent brute and a snob. Why is he so well-liked? What has he ever done to deserve people’s love? He betrayed Dany and tried to hide it from her after he fell in love her, a girl 20 to 30 years his junior. He sold some of his own smallfolk, people who are not peasants!, into slavery to buy his highborne wife jewels and fancy dresses. He disgraced his family and fled rather than accept justice or even go to the Wall, which his own father was in command of! He could have served out the rest of his days with honor and instead he ran. He immediately betrays Viserys after joining his service because he just doesn’t really like him, a wise move sure but still a slimy one. As Dany’s advisor he constantly let his personal feelings for her dominate his advice and color his opinions. He never even attempts to correct her when she talks about the Usurper’s Dogs or how good and loveable her lunatic father was. Then when she gets wise to what a schmuck he was and kicks him out he wreaks a path of destruction across Essos. He kidnaps and enslaves Tyrion so that he can get back into Dany’s favor and then he himself is enslaved! Completely incapable of seeing the irony in the slaver becoming the slave, he proceeds to get beaten and tortured by his new ‘owners’ for being too willful. It’s not as much fun when you’re the powerless one Jorah! Then, of course, Tyrion manages to save him and Jorah doesn’t even thank him for it. Worst of all, he seems to get all this credit for the famous line “The common people pray for rain, healthy children, and a summer that never ends. It is no matter to them if the high lords play their game of thrones, so long as they are left in peace. They never are.” BUT HE WAS A SLAVER. HE IS A HYPOCRITE. You know what else the common people pray for? NOT BEING ENSLAVED YOU WEASELLY SHIT! And now you know how I feel about Jorah Mormont. That is all.
